I have an employment history as a researcher in farm worker labour and land rights, land and agricultural policy implementation & development planning and lectured over 4 years on a part-time basis at UWC's Institute for Land and Agrarian Studies Land and Agrarian Master's Programme and on the Executive MBA course at UCT. As a development advocate, I hold a strong interest & commitment to land and agrarian reform in South Africa.
With my experience, I hold a firm grasp on the context of agriculture, lessons learnt from land reform, the overall impacts on rural livelihoods, and enabling, maintaining and facilitating various stakeholder engagements around these areas. I understand the current legal and policy framework in which land, agriculture and rural transformation is taking place and is keen to explore positive measures, and support services that are reoriented towards a range of land and agriculture beneficiaries.
I also understand the land and agriculture context in Southern Africa. With my background in development planning and implementation, I'm currently employed in the agriculture development sector and focus on linking developing producers into sustainable horticulture supply and value chains.
