Allan joined USAID in 2001 where he has served as Senior Private Sector Specialist in the USAID/Southern Africa Regional Economic Growth Office as well as Program and Project Development Officer backstopping the Housing and Municipal Infrastructure, Economic Growth and Health Teams. He has over 20 years experience designing, implementing, and managing international development projects. His technical speciality is in development finance, impact investment and credit guarantees.
Prior to joining USAID he was Acting Executive Director for Strategic Planning at the Johannesburg Metropolitan Council. He started his development career as a researcher at the Urban Foundation, a South African private sector policy think tank advocating for transformation during the apardheid era. He has a Master’s degree in Town and Regional Planning from the University of Natal Durban and a Post Graduate Diploma in Property Development and Management from the University of the Witwatersrand. He is currently enrolled for a Masters in International Business Administration through the University of London School of Oriental and African Studies.
